Makes an excellent specimen on its own but is most often planted as a hedge. The fresh growth can be anywhere between dark to bright red and can be a welcome sight in Winter and early Spring. Red Robin is evergreen and can be clipped into a neat hedge as low as 4 ft or left to grow tall. It is fast growing but for best results, it should be clipped back every year to produce a nice bushy habit. It will grow in all free draining soils, avoid extreme wind and coastal exposure. No pruning is required, but the shrub can be clipped in spring to make a more even shape.

Site: Tolerates exposure, including coastal exposure
Soil: Any well-drained soil, not too strongly alkaline
Position: Full sun
Season of interest: All year
Hardiness: Very hardy
Height: 2-5’ (60cm-1.5m) Spread: 2-5’ (60cm-1.5m) in 10-20 years
"}
