If this sounds unattractive, just taste one! The greenish-white flesh is firm and juicy, with a rich, winy flavour and perfect balance of sweetness and acidity – particularly good with cheese. Pick after leaf-fall, as the flavour improves the later it’s harvested. Very good keeper. Moderately vigorous, spreading tree, spur-bearer.
