The small, divided leaves are bright green, glossy and heavily veined, and turn yellow in autumn. Masses of lightly fragrant, semi-double, pure white flowers with golden stamens are borne in summer and autumn; these are followed by round, bright orange-red hips, smaller than those of most rugosas, giving a further season of interest. Rugosa roses are wonderfully strong, healthy and disease-resistant, and Schneezwerg is no exception; it’s reliable, tolerant of salt air and is good in a naturalistic planting or to make an impenetrable, stock-proof, flowering hedge. The divided, leathery, deep green leaves have narrow leaflets that are very deeply veined. In summer and autumn, the shrub bears double, amber-yellow flowers that fade to cream, and have golden stamens and a light, lemon scent. Blooming in early summer, it will produce a smaller flush of flowers later.
