The rather small, round to oblong fruit has an almost black skin with a beautiful blue bloom when ripe. The flesh is greenish and tart, with a clinging stone, and is excellent for making pies, crumbles, jam and damson gin. The tree is vigorous, with branches growing downward at first, then twisting upwards; pruning will encourage a better form. Damson Langley Bullace is a vigorous tree, and a heavy cropper. The oval leaves are blue-green, and may persist through a mild winter. From June to August, the plant is covered with orange and yellow, tubular, typical honeysuckle flowers, flushed pinky-red. These are richly scented, particularly in the evening, so it would be ideal planted near a doorway, or where people sit out on summer evenings. Red berries follow the flowers in autumn. Very good for pollinators, including moths. Crataegus prunifolia has an unusual glossy oval leaf, long thorns and the familiar white flowers in May that are followed by extra big, deep red berries that persist on the tree for a long time. The leaves on the Plum Leaved Hawthorn often turn a lovely orange-red in Autumn and it has the toughness you would expect from a Hawthorn. It clips well, will take poor soils and a lot of coastal exposure. Great on its own or makes a super hedge. We have seen this growing right on the coast. Holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit. David’s Golden Yew also has a more upright and narrow form, making it a useful tree for smaller spaces on difficult sites and soils. It is a male cultivar and does not bear the usual red berries as most yews do. Makes a fine specimen for a gravel or heather garden bringing height and a golden colour; can also be grown in a pot.

Site: Tolerates inland and coastal exposure
Soil: Well drained
Position: Full sun, part shade
Season of Interest: All year round foliage, wildlife friendly
Hardiness: Fully hardy
Height: 4-6ft (1.2-2m) Spread: 2-3ft (60cm-1m)

"option1":"Pot | 9cm","option2":"0.5-0.75ft","option3":"Young plant
["Pot | 9cm","0.5-0.75ft","Young plant
"option1":"Pot | 2L","option2":"1ft","option3":"Not provided
["Pot | 2L","1ft","Not provided
"option1":"Pot | 3L","option2":"1-2ft","option3":"Not provided
["Pot | 3L","1-2ft","Not provided
["//future-forests.myshopify.com/cdn/shop/products/Taxus-baccata-David-02.jpg?v=1633366630
//future-forests.myshopify.com/cdn/shop/products/Taxus-baccata-David-02.jpg?v=1633366630
Type | Size","Height","Details

David’s Golden Yew

A dwarf form of the fastigate common yew, Taxus baccata David is a compact evergreen tree.
