Healthy and reliable, English shrub rose Gertrude Jekyll holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit, and was named for the famous garden designer and plantswoman.

Site: Tolerates exposure
Soil: Any moisture-retentive, humus-rich, well-drained soil
Position: Full sun
Season of interest: Summer to autumn
Hardiness: Fully hardy
Height: 5’ (1.5m) Spread: 3’6” (1m) in 2-5 years

"}

Masses of creamy-white blossom in spring are followed by small brown fruits. The glossy dark green leaves reliably turn yellow, orange and red in autumn. As one of the earliest trees to come into leaf and losing them very late, it makes an excellent screen if planted in a row. A fast-growing tree, its branches can be susceptible to storm damage, so it’s best planted in a sheltered position.

Site: Sheltered
Soil: Any reasonably well drained soil
Position: Full sun
Season of Interest: Spring, summer, autumn, winter
Hardiness: Fully hardy
Height: 26-40’ (8-12m) Spread: 13-26’ (4-8m)

["Bareroot","Garden trees","ornamental","ornamental trees
"option1":"Bareroot | 3-4ft","option2":null,"option3":null
["Bareroot | 3-4ft
"option1":"Pot | 5L","option2":null,"option3":null
["Pot | 5L
"option1":"Pot | 10L","option2":null,"option3":null
["Pot | 10L
["//future-forests.myshopify.com/cdn/shop/products/Pyrus_calleryana_Chanticleer_01.jpg?v=1633363155","//future-forests.myshopify.com/cdn/shop/products/Pyrus_calleryana_Chanticleer_02.jpg?v=1633363153","//future-forests.myshopify.com/cdn/shop/products/Pyrus_calleryana_Chanticleer_03.jpg?v=1633363151
//future-forests.myshopify.com/cdn/shop/products/Pyrus_calleryana_Chanticleer_01.jpg?v=1633363155
Type | Size

Ornamental Pear Chanticleer

A cultivar of the far-eastern Callery pear, Pyrus calleryana Chanticleer is a narrowly conical, columnar, medium-sized tree with an architectural quality, especially if limbed up. The ovate to elliptical leaves are luminous mid-green, an excellent foil to the flowers. These open dusky red in early summer, fading to coral-pink, then pink-flushed cream. Climbing hydrangea Crûg Coral is slow-growing to start with, but has a medium growth-rate later, clinging to a wall by aerial roots.
