The slender, arching, mid-green leaves form a dense clump over which pale pink flowers like great plumes appear in midsummer, persisting well into autumn. Pampas grass Pink Feather is very easy to grow, if you have the space for it; it needs protection in its first winter, but after that is perfectly hardy. Rake out dead leaves in late winter or early spring, wearing protective gloves – the leaves have sharp edges.

Site: Tolerates exposure
Soil: Any fertile, deep, well-drained soil
Position: Full sun
Season of interest: All year, summer and autumn in particular
Hardiness: Fully hardy
Height: 8’ (2.5m) Spread: 5’ (1.5m)

"option1":"Pot | 2L","option2":null,"option3":null
//future-forests.myshopify.com/cdn/shop/products/Cortaderia-selloana-Pink-Feather-01.jpg?v=1633350065
39861974859810
Cortaderia selloana Pink Feather - The conical, creamy-white flower heads, 1’/30cm long, come in as early as May, beautiful with the red new stem-growth. The honey-scented blooms fade to pale pink in July, and, as the nights get cooler in September, an attractive wine-red, lasting until November. The colour is better in full sun, but the shrub dislikes scorching mid-day and early afternoon sun on a dry site, and exposed east-facing sites. Hydrangea Wim’s Red is good for pollinators and is a sturdy, low-maintenance shrub. It can be grown informally through a sturdy tree, or along a long south- or west-facing wall. The heart-shaped, deeply-veined leaves, up to 1’/30cm long, with 3-5 shallow lobes, are deep green, thickly felted with tan beneath, and turn wonderful shades of scarlet, crimson, orange and purple through autumn. Insignificant, greenish flowers are borne in May and June, and are followed by small, blue-black, inedible ‘grapes’.
