The fruit is medium-sized, flattened in shape, yellow with a red flush and some russeting; the flesh is dense, yellow, not particularly juicy, with a sweet, complex, slightly citrus flavour, probably best in warmer areas. The fruit keeps its shape well when cooked, making it a good choice for tarts. Unusually for a late-season apple, it only keeps for two or three weeks. A spur-bearer, apple Orleans Reinette has quite a long flowering season, but two pollination partners are needed if all three trees are to bear.

Site: Sheltered
Soil: Any well drained soil
Position: Crops best in full sun
Pick: Mid-October
Keep: October–early November
Hardiness: Hardy
Pollination: Triploid; Pollination Group 4
Uses: Eating, cooking

Learn more about fruit tree rootstocks

During the bareroot season, our apples are pre pruned before being dispatched by mail order.
"}

Apple Pitmaston Pine Apple is disease-resistant, particularly to scab, so is a good choice for organic growers and those in wetter areas. The apples must be thinned in a good year, as the tree is prone to biennial bearing. Self-sterile, so must be planted near an apple of the same or adjacent pollination group.

Site: Sheltered, sunny site
Soil: Fertile, well-drained, loamy soil, preferably slightly acid to neutral
Position: Full sun
Pick: Late September
Keep: 1-2 months
Hardiness: Fully hardy
Pollination: Pollination Group 3-4
Uses: Eating
"}
