The apples are medium-sized, ribbed, and pink and cream coloured. Juicy and scented of lemon, they are excellent eaten straight from the tree, but can also be cooked to a pale golden fluff, needing no sugar. Produces fruiting spurs very freely. The apples are small to medium-sized, flat and irregularly shaped, pale greenish-yellow blushed orange-red with crimson streaking. The flesh is cream-coloured, crisp and juicy, with a good balance of sweetness and acidity. The flavour is outstanding for an early apple, aromatic with a hint of peach, and best eaten straight from the tree, as it does not keep. Apple Irish Peach is a fairly vigorous tree with a slightly weeping habit, very attractive in flower and when the fruit is ripe. Good, reliable cropper, with good disease resistance, but comes late into bearing. A tip-bearer, so not suitable for trained forms.

Site: Some shelter
Soil: Any reasonably well drained
Position: Crops best in full sun
Pick: Early August
Keep: August
Hardiness: Hardy
Pollination: Pollination Group 2 (pollinates with Groups 1, 2 and 3)
Uses: Eating apple

Learn more about fruit tree rootstocks

During the bareroot season, our apples are pre pruned before being dispatched by mail order.

["Apple Trees","Pollination Group 2","tip-bearer
"option1":"Bareroot","option2":"MM106","option3":"1yr
Apple Irish Peach - It’s ideal for the smaller garden, and can also be grown in large pots, if kept well-watered – lovely along a terrace or in a more formal garden. It’s a medium-sized, fast-growing, deciduous shrub with an upright, rounded habit. The slightly toothed, elliptical, pointed leaves are mid-green and the flowering stems are sturdy, well able to support the masses of cone-shaped flower-panicles, 4”/10cm across, which are borne for a long period in late summer and autumn. These emerge soft lime-green, gradually fading to white and then blush-pink, often freckled with raspberry-pink; they are good for pollinators, and when dried, they make lovely winter flower-arrangements. Prune the flowered stems off to within a few buds of the woody framework in late February. The grapes ripen to yellow, and are quite small, but sweet, and of good dessert quality. Can also be used for wine-making, especially when the summer is too cool to ripen the grapes for dessert use. Ripens in October, but earlier if grown under cover.
