The mid-green leaves are three- to five-lobed, about 2 ½ - 3”/6-8cm long. In April and May, beautiful, pure white flowers with conspicuous yellow stamens, like dog-roses, 2”/5cm across, are borne all along the stems. Blackberry-like fruits follow in autumn. Good as ground cover in a wild garden, tridel berry Benenden holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit. From late winter to early spring, tiny, tassel-like, creamy-white flowers with pinkish-red anthers appear from reddish buds, with a rich vanilla scent, carried on the air. The flowers are followed by small black berries. Plant near a doorway or path to enjoy the lovely scent to the full. Sweet box is a reliable, trouble-free shrub, very attractive to pollinators.

Site: Sheltered
Soil: Any humus-rich, moisture-retentive but well drained soil
Position: Partial shade, deep shade
Season of interest: All year, late winter in particular
Hardiness: Fully hardy
Height: up to 5’ (1.5m) Spread: up to 6’6” (2m)

["Evergreen shrubs
"option1":"Pot | 2L","option2":null,"option3":null
Sarcococca hookeriana var. digyna -
