The fruit is very small, round and a rich speckled apricot-yellow in colour; the flesh is golden-yellow, firm and sweet, with good acid balance, a free stone and a very good flavour in a good summer. Can be eaten fresh when fully ripe. Moderately vigorous tree, and a reasonably good cropper, but can be slow to come into bearing. Will cross-pollinate with plums and damsons. It fruits on new and old wood, meaning that it can fruit in its first year; it is self-fertile, and a regular bearer. The long, reddish-black berries are not as well-flavoured as traditional mulberries, but are good for preserves and cooked desserts. Dwarf mulberry Mojo Berry needs a warm, sheltered, sunny site, and is not for colder areas. Some resistance to peach leaf-curl, but outdoor crops should be protected from rain in winter and early spring, and hand-pollinated.

Site: Warm, sheltered
Soil: Any fertile, well drained soil
Position: Full sun essential
Pick: Early-mid July
Keep: Eat as soon as ripe
Hardiness: Hardy
Pollination: Self-fertile
Uses: Eating, cooking

Learn more about fruit tree rootstocks

"}
